We must change many things if we want the society to become sustainable. Can we really do it?

Structure

Are we sustainable with our current structure of society and artificial structures that have been making our lives more comfortable all these years? We rely heavily on monetary aspects of economy and limited natural resources. Ties between family members and neighbours are loosened. More and more people live in towns. If you wanted your company to survive, you should better keep it globally competitive (and probably unsustainable). Concrete and asphalt are everywhere. Forests are disappearing. The economy of big numbers feeds on young population and globalization. We are stuck.

Industrial products are isolated from each other. Products of nature are connected and they change from one form to another. Other animals don't need junkyards. Political structures and infrastructure as we know them have been more or less functional for so many years (extremely short time if measured by nature) that we think it's the only possible approach.
