In this paper wind energy utilities are observed as an innovation which could influence other renewable energy technologies and the entire idea of sustainable development. They are not only a technology for energy production, but also a possible way to prevent the global society from highly unpredictable behaviour and even collapse. As such, possible reasons for a society to collapse from the point of view of complexity and marginal return are also analyzed here. The penetration of wind energy production needs to grow even under ever-changing and possibly chaotic circumstances.
